Science Education & Youth Leadership Intern

Want a summer role where you build leadership skills, gain meaningful teaching experience, and help close the gender gap in STEM?


Stellar Tech Girls is seeking a motivated, responsible individual to step into a leadership-focused STEM education internship working with girls and non-binary youth ages 9–14. While this role is ideal for college students seeking hands-on experience, we also welcome applications from early-career professionals, educators, and experienced youth leaders looking for impactful seasonal work.


This is not a passive assistant position. Team members in this role are trusted leaders, mentors, and educators in a mission-driven program that builds confidence, problem-solving skills, and STEM identity in young learners.

About the Role

The Science Education & Youth Leadership Intern serves as a key instructional and leadership support member of our camp team. You will help lead daily science and engineering activities, support campers’ learning and confidence, and mentor high school counselors.


Ideal Candidates:

  • College students seeking experience in education, STEM outreach, or youth development

  • Educators, youth workers, STEM professionals, or childcare professionals seeking meaningful summer work

Qualifications

​You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience working with youth ages 9–14

  • Are studying or have a background in education, STEM, psychology, child development, or related fields

  • Are confident leading groups of children

  • Are patient, proactive, and adaptable

  • Care about empowering girls and non-binary youth

  • Are organized, responsible, and dependable

  • Have leadership experience in school, work, or community settings

  • Are CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain before start)

Key Responsibilities

STEM Instruction & Facilitation​

  • Lead and support daily hands-on science and engineering activities (lesson plans provided)

  • Guide students through projects, experiments, and problem-solving challenges

  • Help make STEM concepts accessible, exciting, and confidence-building


Youth Support & Inclusion

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where all campers feel supported

  • Provide additional one-on-one support for campers with minor learning or behavioral needs

  • Encourage teamwork, leadership, and positive social interactions


Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a role model for campers and camp counselors

  • Provide guidance and support to high school counselors

  • Help maintain structure, organization, and positive group dynamics


Program Operations

  • Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and classroom organization

  • Support smooth daily transitions, snack time, and activity flow

  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director to ensure a high-quality camp experience

Schedule

 

June 8 – July 31, 2026
Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
No weekend work required
Holiday Break: June 29 – July 3

Compensation

$18 - 24 per hour, depending on experience

Senior STEM Camp Counselor

Stellar Tech Girls is hiring Senior STEM Camp Counselors to support hands-on science and engineering camps for girls and non-binary youth ages 9–14. This role is ideal for college students or emerging youth leaders who want real experience working with kids, mentoring younger staff, and contributing to a mission-driven education program.

This position serves as a strong stepping stone toward future roles in education, STEM outreach, youth development, or our leadership internship program.

The Senior Camp Counselors are key support leaders during camp. You will work alongside the Program Director, STEM Education Interns, and other counselors to help activities run smoothly, support camper engagement, and model leadership for junior staff.

  • College students in education seeking in-person youth program experience

  • Developing youth leaders seeking meaningful experience before stepping into instructional roles

  • Support classroom structure and positive group behavior

  • Serve as a role model for both campers and junior counselors


Program Operations

  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and material organization

  • Help keep activities running on schedule

  • Support snack time and daily routines

Mon–Fri, 4–8 hour shifts
AM: 8:30–12:30 | PM: 12:30–4:30

Junior STEM Camp Counselor

Whether this is one of your first jobs or you already have some work or volunteer experience, this position is designed for team members with a passion for STEM who are still developing their youth education skills.

The Junior Counselors are supportive team members who help activities run smoothly, assist campers during projects, and contribute to a welcoming, organized environment. You will work under the guidance of senior staff and gain valuable experience in teamwork, communication, and responsibility.


Training is provided, and you will be supported by experienced leaders throughout the summer.


Ideal Candidates:

  • High school students with strong leadership or volunteer experience seeking their first real job

  • High school students interested in STEM seeking a meaningful summer job while gaining STEM mentorship

  • College students in STEM looking to inspire the next generation with the support of youth education experts

  • Some experience with kids (babysitting, tutoring, volunteering, etc.) is helpful but not required

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome campers and help lead games and warm-ups

  • Assist with daily activity setup and cleanup

  • Help campers stay engaged, follow directions, and feel included

  • Support snack time and daily transitions

  • Help keep the room organized and supplies stocked

  • Act as a positive and encouraging role model for younger students
